Mary's Visit 2007: St. Remy & Gordes

We headed off at 10 am in the morning and by 12:30 pm we were in St Remy in Provence at the weekly market. Unfortunately merchants were packing up quickly for lunch so we only able to procure Marseille soaps and yummy local tapenades and admire colorful baskets and local sausage displays featuring "sausage de taureau" or bull sausage. Hungered by the sight of all the food we stopped for a gelato because Mary's friend another Mary had advised she MUST try the gelato. My lip puckering grapefruit and Mary's pistachio gelato did not disappoint! After whetting our appetite we had lunch at the charming and shady Gousse D'Ail which featured photo worthy subjects of children and dogs. After wandering the charming town of St. Remy and buying lovely table linens we headed out to spectacular Gordes where we were staying at the very peaceful and lovely "Les Bories." We celebrated the evening with a Michelin Star meal which included a delicious Grevery-Chambertin and Pigeon which had a note tied around one claw that said "eat me." Hah. Hah.
